Jan Saggers (BA Hons)

Jan has been consulting since 1995, first as a sole operator and then as a foundation Director of Nexus. She has a background in research and policy development, with an organisational development focus. Jan is particularly interested in fostering strategic links between agencies' people management functions and the delivery of organisational goals. She has also worked extensively in the area of executive recruitment. Prior to becoming a consultant, Jan worked for seven government agencies and has maintained these public sector links in her consulting work.

Maxinne Sclanders (BEd, MEd)
Maxinne joined Nexus in 1998. Her specialties include policy research, analysis and review, planning and evaluation. Her experience includes the development of legislation, the application of regulatory requirements in the gambling industry, health promotion, education and ethics. She has demonstrated her ability to communicate successfully with people from a wide range of backgrounds. Her professional networks extend across Australia.

Jan Stuart (BA, DipEd, MBA)
Jan is a founding member of Nexus. She entered consulting following a career in senior policy and management roles in the State public and higher education sectors. She has specific expertise in policy development, strategic planning and review, and organisational development, acquired within a number of functional settings -- public sector management, human resource management, health and education. Jan has highly developed skills in research, data collection and analysis (qualitative and quantitative), and report writing.

Susan Barrera (BSc Hons, BEd, MBA)
Susan has returned to The Nexus Network after an absence of ten years, during which time she worked in senior public sector management positions in industrial relations and community development. Her most recent position was Director General, Department for Communities. Susan's background includes organisational development, labour relations, policy development, program development and evaluation and training. During her career, spanning more than 30 years, Susan has worked in all tiers of government and has a strong interest in assisting agencies and individuals improve their performance through creative collaborations.

Andrew Burchfield (B Economics, FCPA, FIIA, CIA, MRMIA)
Andrew is an Associate Consultant for The Nexus Network. He has worked for over 20 years in the Corporate Governance, Risk Management and Internal Audit fields as an Executive Manager. Andrew has worked in a variety of settings including the commercial and not-for-profit sectors, in private practice and in all Government sectors. His interests and skills are within the areas of strategic and operational reviews, business process re-engineering and compliance with better practice, International Standards & regulatory requirements. He has provided training in his specialty areas for over 25 years in both Australia and overseas.

Renu Burr (BA, PostGrad Dip Business, PhD Human Resource Management)
Renu's extensive experience and expertise in executive coaching, leadership development, Strategic Human Resource Management, organisational change and cultural transformation has been built over 30 years of business, leadership and academic experience. Renu has worked in senior management, consultant and advisory roles to support organisations and executive teams improve effectiveness in the private, public and tertiary education sectors in Australia and overseas. She has delivered numerous change and cultural transformation programs and associated Strategic Human Resource Management interventions involving the design, implementation and evaluation of business strategies, work design, structures and people processes.

Marie Finlay (BEd, Dip Ontological Coaching)
Marie is an experienced facilitator and change agent and has worked in a wide range of public sector agencies at both State and Federal level. She specialises in leadership and developing productive workplace relationships. Marie is experienced in all aspects of career transition and development and has a wide repertoire of qualitative research methodologies. Marie also acts as a coach to individuals and teams.

Sherry Saggers (BA, MA, PhD)
Sherry is an anthropologist who has worked for the Commonwealth Public Service and Australian and international universities. In 2012 she retired as Professor and Project Leader at the National Drug Research Institute, Curtin University where she established a research program on child, family and community-centred models to address disadvantage. She was formerly Foundation Professor of Applied Social Science and Director of the Centre for Social Research at Edith Cowan University. Sherry has worked with and for Indigenous communities and other vulnerable groups across Australia since the 1970s. She is best known for her research, evaluation and publications on Indigenous health and substance use and she has also published on children and young people; race and reconciliation; allied health and community services; and community development.

Michele Kosky AM (BA, Master of Philosophy)
Michele has worked in the health sector for more than 30 years. With a background in HIV/AIDS, her most recent position was Executive Director, Health Consumers Council WA. She began consulting in 2013 undertaking work in Tasmania and WA. Michele has experience in the not for profit sector for many years in advocacy, education and policy development. She is strongly committed to patient and family participation in the design, delivery and evaluation of health services. Michele was appointed to North Metro Health Service Board in 2016.

Patrick Marwick (BA, BSW, MBA, GAICD)
Patrick has spent 30 years working in WA's mental health system. He has a passion for aligning strategy, leadership and performance. Most recently, Patrick was Executive Director Mental Health for the North Metropolitan Health Service where he was responsible for the corporate and clinical governance of many specialist Statewide and local mental health services for youth, adults and older adults. Maximising stakeholder engagement and involvement across all projects and initiatives spanning the ministerial, sectorial, staff and end-user levels is central to Patrick's leadership, strategy and performance assessment approach. With qualifications including a Master of Business Administration, a Bachelor of Social Work, Bachelor of Arts and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Patrick is exceptionally well equipped to help drive your organisationto the next level.

Tony Warwick (Dip Bus Man, Ass Degree Social Science, PostGrad Certificate Integrity, MLM Policing)
Tony joined The Nexus Network after a successful career in the Commonwealth and State in law enforcement and integrity oversight. Tony's experience is wide ranging. As a senior public officer in the Department of Education and the Corruption and Crime Commission, he specialised in integrity management, the monitoring and review of misconduct in public office, the investigation of serious misconduct, the development of corruption prevention systems and processes, and training in corruption prevention. Tony has a particular interest is assisting and supporting public agencies and local government in developing and improving their governance and integrity systems and in their interaction with statutory oversight bodies.

Catherine Sambell (BA, DipEd, Grad Cert Management)
Catherine has over 20 years' experience in the WA State Government in policy, program delivery, training, events and national initiatives including Student Mobility Tracking and the WA CHOGM project. Catherine has a keen interest in capacity building, leadership, change management, integrity and misconduct prevention. In her recent roles at the Department of Health, the Office of the Auditor General, the Department of Treasury and the Corruption and Crime Commission (CCC) Catherine helped organisations build capacity and respond to change. Catherine worked with the Department of the Premier and Cabinet, the Public Sector Commission and the CCC on whole of sector programs for Chief Executives and Senior Executives. With her experience in senior management and executive roles Catherine has considerable leadership and corporate expertise.

George Wilkinson (BA, MS, MBA)
George is a management consultant and accomplished project manager with over ten years' experience working in strategy execution, facilitation and business analysis. George has a strong achievement orientation and is passionate about partnering with clients to bring strategy into fruition. He has successfully implemented change in a variety of settings including higher education, healthcare, agriculture and finance. George has special expertise in regional development and urban planning and is currently pursuing a PhD at UWA in Economic Geography.
